A legendary water polo venue, four of the best teams in the region, final battles for the crown - everything is ready for the spectacle at Škver, for the final four of the Premier League.
With a great series of 17 victories, the Jadran M:tel water polo players secured first place in the league section, and thus the privilege of hosting the final tournament.
Vladimir Gojković's men will first face the semi-finals against Jadran from Split tomorrow (Friday) at 17.30:XNUMX PM, and if they win a day later, they will play in the final against the better of the two teams from Serbia - Novi Beograd and Radnički from Kragujevac.
"This is a really big event for all of us - we fought all year to get to first place in order to secure home field advantage," Gojković emphasized.
Uroš Vučurović had a similar message.
"The Final Four at Škver is something we fought and died for all season - in the end, it all comes down to the last two games," the Jadran water polo player is clear.
The team from Herceg Novi won the second and third editions of the regional league - in 2010 and 2011, and has been waiting to bring the cup back to Škver ever since.
"We have a great opportunity now, but we can't say that anyone is an absolute favorite - there are four exceptional teams, two are among the eight in the Champions League, Radnički is in the semi-finals of the Eurocup," Gojković warned.
On the way to the trophy, his team will first have to defeat their namesake from Split - a rival who last managed to defeat the team from Novalja, at the end of October.
"Our wish is to try to first celebrate in the semi-finals, and then to play the final match in front of our audience, where we believe we have a much better chance than in any other pool. We have trained well, I hope that we will all be healthy and give what we can," Gojković underlined.
The team from Split celebrated against the Montenegrin representative right at Škvero, which is why everyone in the Adriatic knows how serious a rival awaits them.
"We are playing against a team that has tormented us twice this year, but our expectations are the highest possible, and that is winning the cup - 15 years after the first one when our captain Ivović was on the team. We hope to do it all again," added Vučurović, who has recovered from a finger injury.
Friday is the day for the semi-finals, Saturday for the decision - Jadran is heading for the title, the Novi team wants to repeat 2010 and 2011.
