A legendary water polo venue, a tough group, but also the desire for Montenegro to once again show that great talents are still being born in our country...
The young Montenegrin national team, a great generation that won European silver and world bronze last year, begins the world championship in Zagreb today.
And immediately, the boys, led from the bench by coach Aleksandar Aleksić and his assistants Draško Brguljan and Marko Gopčević, will face a derby "on the Sava" - their rival at 17.30:XNUMX PM is Hungary.
"We are playing the first match against the world champion, and it is clear how important it is. We will try to put what we have been training into practice in the pool. We are satisfied with how the trip went, as well as with the organization, the pool, in the end I hope that we will get a positive result at the start," said Aleksić.
Tomorrow (Sunday at 19pm) the "young sharks" will face a new derby against the hosts Croatia, and on Monday (17.30:XNUMXpm) a match against the United States of America.
Compared to the selection that shone in Bulgaria and Argentina last year, Strahinja Gojković and Balša Vučković will now be missing, as they are preparing for the senior national team.
Thus, the colors of our country in Zagreb will be defended by Radivoj Radanović, Tadija Matijašević, Nikola Petrović, Meldin Hadžić, Danilo Stupar (Jadran m:tel), Draško Samardžić, Milan Nikaljević, Tim Perov, Srđan Janović (Primorac), Nebojša Petrović, Ivan Marković, Andrija Bjelica (Kataro), Ilija Kojičić, Danilo Dragović (Budva Riviera) and Danilo Rajević (Stari grad).
Montenegro is in Group A, while four teams make up Group B - Greece, Serbia, Italy and Spain. The other 12 national teams are divided into four groups of three teams each.
From Groups A and B, all teams advance - the top two teams from each group advance directly to the quarterfinals, while the third- and fourth-place teams will play for a place among the top eight with teams from Groups C, D, E and F.
