On July 16, the U13 water polo team brought Montenegro its 13th medal from major competitions in the younger categories.
They did it at the European Championships in Istanbul - they won bronze with a victory over Croatia, and coach Đorđe Radošević believes that his team could have done even better...
"There remains a little bitterness that the medal is not brighter, but after all the bad luck we have had in the past month, I am proud of everything the team has done. From the first day we were united and united, which brought a good result," said Radošević.
Montenegro had a series of bad luck and at the tournament itself, it was stronger than all the problems.
"Thanks also to the medical team who helped us recover as quickly as possible after the difficult matches. Thanks also to the psychologist, my associates and finally the coordinator of the junior teams, Nenad Vukanić," Radošević emphasized.
Montenegro also has a goalkeeper who made his mark at the Euro - Jakša Milanović.
"We showed that we can play with anyone. This is a great success for a small country, and as for the award - it is for the entire team, if it weren't for my teammates, it wouldn't have been possible. Their defensive blocks gave me confidence and that helped me a lot," said Milanović.
The president of the Water Polo and Swimming Association, Nikola Milić, did not hide his satisfaction.
"This is the first medal since I have been at the helm of the Federation and proof that we are a national sport, and that we need to invest in young people. We have achieved great success, when you know how big our base is and when you compare it to our rivals... It is pleasing that we had players from Podgorica in this generation. I appeal once again to the state to start improving the infrastructure," said Milić.
