At the initiative of the Water Polo and Swimming Association of Montenegro (VPSCG), and out of the desire to preserve the competition that contributes to increasing the quality of water polo, the strength of our clubs and the development of players, a meeting was held in Belgrade today with representatives of the Water Polo Association of Serbia (VSS) and clubs from Serbia, at which an agreement was reached on the formation of a Regional League, which should begin at the end of September, the VPSCG announced.
The VPSCG said that with mutual understanding and common interest, it was agreed that the Premier League will have eight clubs. Serbia will provide five - Radnički, Novi Beograd, Šabac, Crvena zvezda and Partizan, and Montenegro will be represented by Jadran m:tel, Primorac and Budućnost One.
The league will be played over 14 rounds in a two-round system and with the F4 tournament as the finale.
It was also agreed that the First League will have nine clubs. Serbia will be represented by: Valis, Nais, Stari grad, Vukovi, Vojvodina, Zemun and Belgrade, and Montenegro by Kataro and Budva Budvanska rivijera. The league will be played in a two-round system.
"In the next ten days, discussions will intensify on the constitution of organs and working bodies, which will make all necessary decisions for the functioning of the competition," said the VPSCG.
The VSS was represented at the meeting by President Viktor Jelenić, Secretary General Nemanja Marijan, Executive Director Đorđe Đorđević, Sports Director Milan Aleksić, Radnički representative Jugoslav Vasović, Novi Beograd representative Aleksandar Šoštar, and Vojvodina representative Vojkan Jovanović.
Montenegro was represented by the Vice President of the Montenegrin Football Association Miloš Mračević, the representative of the Premier League and the president of Primorac Siniša Kovačević, and the representative of the First League and the president of Budva Budvanska Riviera Goran Rađenović.
