Unforgettable images from the hot Malaga of 2008, when the history of our water polo was being written and when his father scored the first goal for Montenegro in the memorable final. Strahinja Gojković - then only 16 months old - he couldn't remember any of it.
Vladimir Gojkovic Then, and in the years that followed, in the cap with the number 11 and together with the other "sharks", he brought many great victories and medals to Montenegro - 17 years later, Strahinja decided to create his own images for history, the gold medal shines again on the chest of one Gojković.
That last name again and the number 11 again... And another trophy - this time from the European Under-18 Championship.
Montenegro "walked" through Oradea, crushing all its rivals, and Strahinja, as captain and the best player of the tournament, led his teammates in the right way.
- What was crucial, so we looked so dominant? First of all, the fact that, although we knew and believed that we were worthy of gold, we did not raise our heads too early, we were a real team with good chemistry and fought for each other for a higher common goal - Strahinja Gojković told "Vijesti".
Although it was clear that Montenegro was a class above all others in this age group, there were moments when our team felt they had to do better.
- Yes, I said during the tournament that I was not satisfied after the game with Spain, because I thought and stand by that we should have won the game by more than a goal difference and that we should not be satisfied with a minimal victory if we can show how much better we really are - explained Gojković.
Besides him, many other Montenegrin pearls shone in the right way in Oradea - can we expect any of them to shine in the senior national team soon?
- There is a lot of talent on this team, and in my opinion Danilo Stupar is closest to the A national team - says water polo player Jadran M:tela.
And Gojković already knows what it's like to be a member of the "sharks" and the biggest scene, as earlier this summer he was part of the senior Montenegrin team that competed at the World Championship in Singapore.
- The summer with the seniors meant a lot to me because of the experience, character building, and introduction to the highest level of world water polo.
In addition to the trophy for the best European team, two of the most important individual awards also arrived from Oradea - Gojković was named MVP, and his teammate Marko Pejović for the best goalkeeper of the European Championship.
- The award for the best player is a nice thing, but it cannot be compared to the satisfaction I have when I am the European champion - concluded Gojković.
Vladimir and Strahinja - I don't care about pressure, comments and expectations
The name of a famous father can often be a great burden and pressure for a young athlete, but this is not the case in our water polo.
Strahinja showed this, but also his current teammate Relja Vukanić, as well as the slightly older Srđan Janović.
- There is a lot of pressure and various comments, expectations and many other things, but I don't pay attention to that, because I know what I am capable of and I try to show it in the best light - Gojković's message is clear.
