He put an end to his great playing career at the end of last season, now it's time for new challenges.
Aleksandar Ivović has been officially appointed as the new sports director of the Jadran M:tel Water Polo Club.
This was announced by the club from Škvere after the regular session of the Assembly, chaired by Željko Andrić.
In addition to Jadran, for whom he played the last matches of his career, Leka also played for Pro Reko and Jug - he was the champion of Montenegro, Croatia and Italy, and with the ever-powerful giant from Genoa he won the Champions League five times (2012, 2015, 2021, 2022 and 2023).
He was a member of the Montenegrin national team practically from its beginning until the end of the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. With the "Sharks", he was the European champion in 2008 and the world vice-champion in 2013, and he also has two silver medals from the Old Continent championships, as well as one bronze.
As announced by Jadran, the aforementioned meeting also adopted reports on the club's work, competition reports, as well as a report on the work of the "Jadran" swimming pool. The final accounts for the previous period were also adopted, and the club's president, Boro Lučić, presented personnel changes in the Board of Directors.
"In the coming period, the Board of Directors will no longer include Nikola Ćetković, Lazar Beko and Nikola Milić, who resigned due to taking over the position of president of the Water Polo and Swimming Federation of Montenegro. The new member of the Board of Directors is Rade Banićević," the club said.
The assembly also adopted, as stated, conclusions on initiating activities to implement previously adopted projects, including: the installation of the "Adriatic Olympians' Wall" at Škver and the completion of the TV series "Adriatic - the First 100 Years".
