The Primorac water polo team defeated the Romanian Oradea 15:11 tonight in Kotor, in a match from the fifth round of the Champions League.
The Kotor team got revenge on their rival and recorded their first triumph in Group C, but it has long been known that they no longer have a chance in the elite and that they will move to the Eurocup in the spring.
The home team confirmed that they were the better rival, taking a 4:1 lead at the start, and increasing the lead to 6:2 at the start of the second quarter.
This was followed by a decline in the play of the Kotor team, which the Romanian champion took advantage of and tied the match at 7:7 midway through the third period.
Primorac, with goals from Marko Mrsic, Nemanja Vic and Stefan Vidovic, completed a 3:0 series for a 10:7 lead heading into the final eight minutes, which they managed to maintain until the end.
The most efficient player in the team from Kotor was Mršić with four goals, Savo Ćetković and Balša Vučković added three each, while Draško Brguljan, Luka Murišić, Stefan Vidović, Đorđije Stanojević and Vico scored once each.
The best player in the Oradea team was Montenegrin national team player Filip Gardašević with five goals.
The other Montenegrin representative, Jadran from Herceg Novi, will host Pro Reka tomorrow (6:30 p.m.) in Trebinje.
