The European Aquatics Federation has confirmed that Serbian water polo player Dušan Mandić will miss the next two matches of the European Championships in Belgrade due to suspension.
Mandic was suspended for "brutality" in last night's match against Spain.
The Serbian international elbowed Spain's Alvaro Granados in the head over the water. Referees Boris Margeta and George Stavridis reviewed the moment on the monitor and characterized it as a violent act, or "brutality."
After that decision, Mandić was sent off, the "furies" were awarded a penalty, and Serbia played with four minutes less.
Alvaro Granados is also suspended. The Spanish international was sent off with the right to be substituted at the end of the match last night when he fouled Miloš Ćuk, so he will miss the match against the Netherlands.
Serbia defeated Spain 12:11 last night.
