Montenegrin water polo players played much better in the last 12 minutes to defeat the Netherlands 15:11 in the 2nd round of the main round of the European Championship, thus taking a crucial step towards qualifying for next year's World Cup.
Goalkeeper Petar Tešanović was one of the heroes, because in addition to making 13 saves, he also managed to score a goal - he did so in the 2nd quarter when he reduced the score to 9:7.
"An extremely difficult match, important for qualifying for the World Cup. The Dutch entered the match in top form, and we were in a counter-rhythm. Maybe my goal got us back into the match, the team started to believe, and later we started to press and "grind" the opponent because we scored seven goals in a row," said Tešanović.
On Tuesday, Serbia will be their rival.
"Against Serbia we want to show that we can compete with the best. We didn't manage to do that with Hungary and Spain, so we have a duel with the host in a wonderful atmosphere that should be a motivation for us."

Montenegro is not a candidate for a medal in this competition either, but it seems to have a future.
"For some players, this is their first competition, there are a lot of mistakes and we shouldn't promise anything, but rather go boldly as was the case in the second half against the Netherlands," added Tešanović.
Balša Vučković, although young, has already become irreplaceable - he scored four goals against the Dutch.
"We need to play like we did in the second half against the Netherlands until the end of the tournament. Maybe this is reality, but we want to fight for medals and I believe that in the coming period we will grow as a team and that we will win medals," concluded Vučković.
