The Serbian water polo team defeated Hungary tonight (15:14) and advanced to the semifinals of the European Championship.
On the other hand, in two days, the Hungarians will decide the second semifinalist from Group E in a head-to-head match against Spain.
Hungary opened the match furiously and led 3:0, then 4:1, and then Serbia's run followed, taking a 5:4 lead at the beginning of the second quarter.
Serbia ended the first half with a goal advantage (8:7), and then took a 13:8 lead in the third quarter.
It seemed like everything was over, but then the Hungarians woke up and took the match to a dramatic finale in which Serbia had a one-goal advantage - 14:13. Then, a minute before the end, Strahinja Rašović scored a goal for 15:13 and settled the match.
The most efficient players in the Serbian team were Dušan Mandić and Nikola Jakšić with three goals each, while the most efficient player for Hungary was Adam Nađ with four goals.
