The "Sharks" have thus reached the semi-finals, where their rival will be France on Sunday at 4:30 p.m., and if they defeat the "tricolors" - who defeated Neutral Athletes B today - Dejan Savić's team will secure a place in the Superfinal to be played in July in Sydney.
Montenegro outplayed Romania (14:8), it was the toughest test so far for our water polo players, but they routinely justified their role as favorites.
The Romanians fought back in the first ten minutes, leading 3:2 after the first quarter, then a 4:0 "shark" series followed, which took them from 3:4 to a 7:4 lead.
In the third period, there were two plus fours (9:5 and 10:6), and before the last eight minutes, a sufficiently safe 10:7. It was an advantage that our national team did not let go until the end of the game...
Strahinja Gojković led the winning team with five goals, Aljoša Mačić, Srđan Janović and Jovan Vujović scored twice each, and Đuro Radović, Dušan Matković and Savo Ćetković scored once each.
The other semi-final pair of the tournament in Malta consists of Georgia and Germany - the Georgians eliminated Ukraine, and the Germans were better than Australia, which as the host certainly has a ticket to the Super Finals.
