A doubleheader in which, due to strange propositions, it doesn't matter who won by how much of a margin, and in which victories count, and there is no winner if the score is 1:1, ended in a penalty shootout.
And it seems he was right - the water polo players from Budva defeated Primorac and advanced to the final of the Montenegrin championship playoffs. Miloš Popović's team won the first match 18:9, Kotorani in the second 21:15, and then in the penalty shootout, the hero of Budva was Dragoljub Ćetković, who "took" the penalty from Đuro Radović.
Budva thus deserved the final (the first since 2019) after everything they have shown this season, and there they will face Jadran M:tel, who did not have many problems against Buducnost - after a 23:9 victory in Podgorica, the team from Novi Sad also celebrated at Škver with a 19:8 victory.
Let us remind you that, according to the regulations in the domestic championship, if a semi-final match ends with both teams achieving one victory each, and after the regular part of the second match there is no overall winner, the decision will be made by taking a penalty kick.
When it comes to the rematch in Kotor, the Budva water polo players entered the match on the wings of a convincing victory and after a goal by Nenad Dragović, they won the first quarter 5:4. However, Atanasios Kehajas' team gained a decisive advantage in the next eight minutes, which they won 7:2.
The final score after 32 minutes was 21:15, and in the penalty area Ćetković saved a penalty from Đuro Radović, while everyone on Budva's team was cool-headed and confident - Nenad and Luka Dragović, Matija Brguljan, Mateja Asanović and Neđo Baštrica.
The most efficient players for Budva were Nebojša Vušković and Nenad Dragović with four goals each, while Balša Vučković scored five goals for Primorac.
Strahinja Gojković and Vasilije Radović led Jadran to victory against the team from the capital on sunny Škver with four goals each. On the other side, Darko Brguljan and Petar Vujošević were the most efficient with three goals each.
Jadran will fight for its 14th championship trophy in the final, and Budva for its third - its first since 2013.
