From July 22nd to 26th, distant Australia will host the most important water polo competition this summer - the final tournament of the World Cup will be held in Sydney, and Montenegro will be a part of it.
The "Sharks" are heading to the land of the kangaroos tomorrow, and coach Dejan Savić has announced the list of players he is counting on for this competition.
It also includes the return of Aleks Ukropin, who showed during preparations in Los Angeles how useful he can be for our national team, and compared to some previous tournaments, Marko Mrsic, Dimitrij Holod, and Savo Cetkovic are missing, while it has been previously known that captain Petar Tesanovic will miss this summer due to injury.
From the wider list, Nikola Moskov and Tim Perov will not travel to Sydney.
The Montenegrin water polo team will play their first match in the tournament on July 23, when they will face the Greek national team. Australia, Spain, Hungary, Croatia, Italy and Georgia have also qualified for the Superfinals.
The "Sharks" earned their place in the final tournament of the World Cup by winning first place in the qualifying tournament held in Malta, where they were better than Kazakhstan, Argentina, Great Britain, the hosts, Romania, France and Georgia.
Sydney roster: Darko Đurović, Ilija Radović (goalkeepers) Jovan Vujović, Đuro Radović, Matija Sladović, Aljoša Macić, Dušan Banićević, Aleksa Ukropina, Balša Vučković, Miroslav Perković, Vladan Spaić, Dušan Matković, Vasilije Radović, Danilo Stupar and Strahinja Gojković.
As stated by the Water Polo and Swimming Federation of Montenegro, the coaching staff, in addition to coach Dejan Savić, includes assistant coaches Nikola Mijanović and Edvard Bonelo, video analysis officer Vasko Vučković, doctor Vasko Roganović, physiotherapist Vladislav Mlađen, psychologist Helena Rosandić and team manager Dragan Dracun.
