At the opening of the final playoff series of the Montenegrin championship, Buducnost Volija basketball players led all 40 minutes and defeated SC Derbi 95:86.
Petr Mijović's team was significantly more aggressive than in the semi-final series of the AdmiralBet ABA League with Crvena Zvezda, which gave them the lead.
"After two heavy defeats in the semi-finals of the ABA league against Crvena zvezda, we found the strength to be at a much higher level energetically. That allowed us to win deservedly. We knew they would be aggressive and motivated in the fight for the title, but I think we are a much better team. If we equalize our energy with our rival in the remaining matches, I believe there will be no problem", said Igor Drobnjak, who finished the match with 10 points.
One of the best among the "students", Emir Hadžibegović, admits that his team failed in its approach.
"We expected a reaction from Buducnost after two weaker matches against Zvezda. Unfortunately, we did not prepare well for this match, we entered quite easily, softly, and they knew how to take advantage of that. They led throughout the game, we tried to come back at the end of the 3rd quarter and in the last, but it wasn't enough," said the 26-year-old Bjelopoljac.
In the 1st half, Andrej Žakelj's team had no solutions for the tandem of Alfa Kaba (15 points) - Erik Green (11).
"They played quite aggressively, they wanted the ball more than we did. That's why they had so many easy points and offensive rebounds. We will try to fix it, I hope we will be better in the next match", emphasized Hadžibegović.
The second match of the final will be played on Tuesday in "Morača", the nominal host is SC Derby.
