The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has adopted a set of laws and measures that will enable the minimum income of workers to be almost doubled, which in the future should amount to more than 600 euros, while employers will be exempted from paying part of the contribution, Index.hr writes.
The new minimum wage is introduced as part of a broader fiscal reform, which includes a set of new legal regulations aimed at suppressing the black market and easing the burden on the economy.
The Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nermin Nikšić, explained that these laws are key to creating more favorable conditions for doing business and strengthening economic stability.
The introduction of a minimum wage of 1200 marks (around 600 euros), along with new fiscal measures, represents a significant step towards a more socially just system and better protection of workers.
The minimum wage is currently around 310 euros
The Minister of Finance of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Toni Kraljević, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister, emphasized that the new law on fiscalization, whose implementation is planned for the beginning of 2025, introduces a central platform for monitoring financial transactions, which aims to prevent tax evasion and reduce the black market.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vojin Mijatović, pointed out that, in addition to the law on the minimum wage, the government will also adopt a regulation on workers' incomes in order to ensure adequate protection for those with incomes below the current minimum.
The minimum wage in the Federation of BiH is currently 619 marks (about 310 euros). These changes will make it easier for employers to do business by exempting them from paying part of the salary contribution.
