Kurti was pelted with eggs in the Kosovo Assembly, he called on party leaders to reach an agreement on the formation of institutions

The President of Self-Determination and Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti again today invited the presidents of other parties to talks on the issue of electing the President of Kosovo and reiterated that the constitution of the Kosovo Assembly without a political agreement on the president would lead to new elections.

"We have not proposed a candidate, although we have the votes for such a thing, because any constitution without a political agreement that would guarantee staying in the chamber and voting for the president would lead us to new elections. Therefore, our justified and useful request is to sit down, talk and reach an agreement, and that only on the basis of a political agreement and a broader agreement between me as the president of the PS and the leaders of other parties do we constitute the Assembly, form the Government and elect the president," Kurti said.

He expressed the view that he would continue efforts to hold talks.

"There is no point in not reaching an agreement and not talking. During these last hours, between the beginning of the session and the continuation of this session, I have had meetings, sent letters, and I do not believe that we should declare our efforts desperate or finished. We must continue to try, because this is what constitutionality requires," Kurti told reporters.

Regarding the fact that an opposition MP threw eggs at him during a session of the Parliament today, Kurti said that "if throwing eggs and soiling the Prime Minister's jacket and trousers... is the price I have to pay for them to sit down, talk to us and have a dialogue, I am ready to pay that price."

"Just let them come to the meeting, just let us sit down and talk. I'm not complaining about them throwing eggs, I'm complaining about them not wanting to meet," Kurti said.

When Kurti once again requested additional time for consultations today, Alliance MP Timea Kadrijaj threw eggs at him, which led to the session being interrupted and Kurti's bodyguards entering the hall.

Chairman Avni Dehari announced that MPs would be informed later when the session would resume.

Immediately afterwards, LDK MP Jehona Lušaku told reporters that Kurti's request for additional time for consultations was irresponsible, but rather that the Vetëvendosje Movement should propose a candidate for Speaker of the Assembly.

"The trust that citizens gave us as MPs, they gave us to constitute institutions, but now we see the complete irresponsibility of Self-Determination, which is not finding a way to fulfill its duty. This is a disaster and irresponsibility! I call on citizens to see this, that the Assembly is not managing to constitute itself," she said.

Democratic Party of Kosovo MP Arian Tahiri said that the newly emerging political situation is a consequence of the government's lack of accountability towards citizens.

"It is unfortunate that Albin Kurti has been abusing the institutions of Kosovo for 18 months," he said after yet another postponement of the constituent session of the Assembly.

He said that "only scenarios are changing, and the crisis continues."
