Vance: Trump could announce US-Iran deal before Friday

US President Donald Trump may decide to announce a preliminary agreement to end the war with Iran before Friday, US Vice President J. D. Vance said.

Vance said the memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran is "about a page and a half" long and is a "very general" document, the BBC reported.

Other US officials have also provided some details about the agreement, stating that the Strait of Hormuz will reopen on Friday, the same day the agreement is set to be officially signed in Geneva.

Although Trump had previously indicated that details of the agreement would be announced "fairly soon" after Friday's ceremony, Vance told Fox News that the US president could decide to announce the agreement before then.

Trump is attending the G7 summit in France, where a special session on Iran will be held today, with the leaders of Egypt, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates in attendance.

During a conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, Trump said he was "very happy to say it's signed," referring to the preliminary agreement.

US officials said it was electronically signed by Trump, Vance and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
