Representatives of Crnogorski Telekom presented yesterday Directorate for Protection and Rescue equipment provided through a humanitarian action launched in August last year, in the midst of fires that affected several Montenegrin municipalities and caused damage to citizens, property and nature.
At a time when firefighters across the country were working day and night to combat fires and protect homes, Crnogorski Telekom has launched an action with the clear intention of providing systematic and measurable support to the services that bear key responsibilities in crisis situations. The initiative is designed to enable broad public participation and pool funds for the procurement of equipment that will directly improve operational readiness in the field.
Citizens joined the fundraising effort, with contributions from the company, Telekom employees, and partners. Citizens supported the campaign by sending SMS messages via the Crnogorski Telekom network, while the company allocated additional funds for each SMS sent. Employee donations were doubled, and a number of partner companies also provided support for the campaign, thanks to which a total of 25.055,55 euros was collected and the planned procurement was made possible in full.
All funds were used exclusively for the purchase of equipment, and the process was carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Internal Affairs - Directorate for Protection and Rescue., so that the equipment meets the priority needs of the services and so that the procedure is carried out transparently.
Pavle Đurović, Director of the Corporate and Legal Affairs Department, he said: "A company like Crnogorski Telekom proudly contributes to social good. The fires that hit Montenegro during the summer prompted us to think about how we can specifically help in such situations. From the very beginning of the campaign, it was important to us that the funds raised be directed towards equipment that will have real application. Today's presentation confirms that an initiative started in challenging circumstances can result in a concrete improvement in the capacities of the services that care about the safety of all of us. However, we would like to emphasize that this assistance is immeasurable compared to the efforts that our firefighters invest every day, and we hope that as a society, through preventive activities, we will additionally contribute to a more efficient fight against fires."
The Directorate for Protection and Rescue expressed gratitude for the support, emphasizing the importance of continued investment in equipment and further strengthening the capacities of the protection and rescue system services.
"The donation made by Telekom and citizens through the "Together for our firefighters" campaign is a strong example of social responsibility and solidarity in action. Thanks to the joint contribution, equipment worth a total of 25.055,55 euros was purchased and delivered to fire departments, making a concrete and visible step forward in improving their operational capacities. This equipment not only represents a technical strengthening of the protection and rescue system, but also additional security for firefighters who, on a daily basis, often in the most difficult conditions, take care of the safety of citizens and their property." Its use will contribute to faster, more efficient and safer response in emergency situations, which is of particular importance in the context of the increasingly frequent challenges that protection and rescue services face. We are particularly pleased that this initiative has brought together both the company and citizens around a common goal – strengthening the capacities of those who are always first on the front lines of assistance. Such a partnership shows that through responsible action and solidarity, concrete results can be achieved that benefit the entire community. The delivery of the equipment concluded the process initiated during last year's fires, and the result is equipment that remains in the system and will be used for future interventions - as a long-term strengthening of protection and rescue services, in the interest of the protection and well-being of all citizens of Montenegro.
