The workers are owed ten wages: We have no money to come to work

The workers of the Culture Center in Ulcinj are owed ten salaries, and they have not received a single cent for five months.

The giro account of the Culture Center was blocked in the amount of 140 thousand euros, based on the court case won in the case of Kino Bašta, which was leased to the company Fama.

The company was paralyzed because of it.

"Who is guilty, let them see among themselves. I cannot look for the guilty. We, as workers, are looking for our wages. Every promotion, every literary evening, now a festival, we hold it all without talking. Nobody is in a material situation and we suffer and remain silent We take loans, the bank is calling, we almost all have loans," says Branimirka Živković from the Union for Culture.

"We have to go to work every day, but we don't have the means to come to work. We are in that situation today. We are looking for an urgent solution to this situation, which is very difficult," says Gazmend Kovači, director of the Museum in Ulcinj.

That is why they are calling on Mayor Ljor Nrekić to help them.

The first man of Ulcinj promises that the workers will receive one salary as early as tomorrow.

"The workers of the Center should expect one salary tomorrow, maybe even today, but in a way the other we have done. It is not a question of one salary, it is a problem that needs to be solved permanently."

Nrekić assures us that the crisis in the Cultural Center will not last long, and that he is in negotiations with the company Fama to lift the blockade.

"I expect by the end of the year or the beginning of January that we will solve it. That an out-of-court settlement is made, that they are released and that they can function in a normal way."

The city museum and library also operate in the cultural center, and 24 workers are employed.
