ASK is still silent about the "Envelope" affair: "The party cannot be punished for inaccurate reports"

The Agency for the Prevention of Corruption still does not announce itself regarding the "Envelope" affair, and its representatives say that they will soon organize a media conference and respond to the public's interest.

What, however, today, at the session of the Council of the Agency, its representatives announced is that the Law does not allow them to punish a party for incorrect or incomplete reports, but sanctions are only possible for failure to submit reports.

Today, Television Vijesti could not get an answer from the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption to the question of whether and what it had done regarding the "Koverat" affair.

Director Sreten Radonjić was not present at the Council session, as it was explained, due to previously undertaken obligations, Television Vijesti was not even able to ask a question, because they were told that it was not according to protocol.

"There is an assistant director, so let him declare whether he wants to answer," said Goranka Vučinić, president of the ASK Council.

"This is a thematic session, the Council sets the agenda, we are guests and we cannot decide," said Savo Milašinović, deputy director of KAS.

"I would not like to violate the rules of the house, you will be informed, these days there will be a press conference and you will have the opportunity to ask questions to all representatives of the Agency," said Vučinić.

The Agency has not advertised for the seventh day since the "Koverat" affair, and in the reports on the financing of election campaigns in 2016, published on the Agency's website, the list of donors of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) does not include the first man of the Atlas Group, Duško Knežević, who claims that he allocated money for they have been following you there for the previous 25 years as well.

The President of the Council, on two occasions, asked whether the Agency, in addition to controlling the special account of parties, practices checking whether they are financed from other sources and contrary to the law.

"Does the Agency possibly carry out any checks on the ground, does it carry out administrative checks, has it done so up to now, is it still working and what results did it come to?" asked Vučinić. "In the law, we do not have a sanction for inaccurate or incomplete party reports. Therefore, we only have a sanction for the report to be submitted to the Agency, and for the supporting documentation, those contracts, to be submitted, and what is written in the report - there is no sanction for that." , pointed out Dušan Drakić from ASK. They say that during the campaign they go to the field to check if something is illegal and ask for supplemental reports. "We had 46 warnings during the last election with all political entities - to be supplemented in accordance with what we found as activities or expenses that were not reported by the entities, or were not reported in the correct amount," said Drakić. The Council of the Agency announced that in the coming period, they will ask for more attention to be paid to donations and sponsorships of parties, in order to improve the work of the Agency as well as legal solutions in that area.
