Novaka Ramova Street in the center of Nikšić. Exactly at noon for a month, cook Aleksandra Božović opens the door of the national kitchen, while customers with packaging wait for their turn for a meal.
Since July 22nd, when the NGO Izvor života in Nikšić opened a soup kitchen, more than 2 meals have been distributed from the premises of MZ Centar 3.000, which were ceded for use by the Municipality.
"There will be an average of 145-146 meals and some 12 deliveries to home addresses, which means around 155 meals daily. I am satisfied, as far as I can tell, and the users are satisfied, which is the most important thing," says cook Aleksandra Božović.
The users of free meals are mainly from socially disadvantaged families, and there are also old and infirm people who are unable to cook. They are satisfied with the service.
"The food is excellent, I am satisfied. You know very well how I live, today I beg, today I eat, and now I am satisfied," says one user of the National Kitchen.
"I am satisfied, I am a displaced person from Croatia. I live alone, my mother died," said another user of the National Kitchen.
"I have my father's pension, it's not one, I live with my brother alone. This is big for me, if it had been open a long time ago I would have passed better."
In the National Kitchen, they try to make the meals tasty, healthy and plentiful.
"Today there is cabbage on dried meat, zucchini and garlic salad, tomatoes, pipun for dessert. We try to make it tasty, and to make it in quantity enough for them to have leftovers for dinner," said Božović.
As the number of users grows, says Konstantina Vojinović, director of NGO Izvor života, so does the number of those who want to help the work of the soup kitchen.
"The people who donate to the national kitchen are businessmen from Nikšić, Podgorica, Herceg Novi, Bar. We don't lack anything for now, we have secured ourselves for the year if everyone keeps their word," says Vojinović.
NGO Izvor života is preparing new humanitarian projects, and one of them is the opening of a soup kitchen in Bijelo Polje.
