The plot follows Selah, a young girl who has spent her entire life in an isolated commune led by a mysterious man known only as the Shepherd. The commune is made up exclusively of women and girls, divided into two groups - wives and daughters. Growing up in a strict hierarchy, Selah is fiercely loyal to the Shepherd, but as she enters adolescence, she begins to face terrifying visions and doubts about her faith.
When the community is forced to relocate to a new location, Selah increasingly questions the reality around her and slowly uncovers the dark secrets hidden behind the Shepherd's authority. The film culminates in her struggle to break free from his influence and find her own identity outside of the strict rules she was taught.
