Mario Vargas Llosa had a significant collaboration with Montenegro, thanks to a partnership with the publishing house Nova knjiga from Podgorica, which resulted in the establishment of the international literary award "Literary Flame".
The Nova knjiga publishing house, in cooperation with TV Vijesti, produced this documentary about the writer's visit to Montenegro in 2015.
The Peruvian Nobel laureate visited Montenegro in June 2015, at the invitation of his Montenegrin publisher, Nova knjiga from Podgorica. During this visit, Vargas Llosa had several meetings with his Montenegrin readers, as well as with the authors of this publishing house.
The film presents the most interesting sequences from the author's stay in our country as well as the events related to the establishment of the "Literary Flame" award. Vargas Llosa was the first winner and honorary president of the jury for the award of this international award, which also includes some of the most important theorists and university professors from the region. The award is unique in the world in the fact that a Nobel laureate was the regular president of the jury, and it has become internationally recognized for a series of winners who are among the very top of world literature in the world. In addition to Llosa, the winners include the Italian writer Claudio Magris, the Turkish Nobel laureate Orhan Pamuk, the Polish writer Adam Zagajewski, the prominent Canadian and world poet, prose writer and essayist Margaret Atwood, as well as the great world writers Gabriel Zaid, Irene Vallejo, Javier Serkas and the Polish Nobel laureate Olga Tokarczuk.
