The fifth episode of the series Time of Evil, based on the novel by Dobrica Ćosić, brings key turning points in the historical picture of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia during the late 1930s, when foreign policy pressures and internal divisions became increasingly clear.
At the very center of events is the Katić family and their closest associates.
While Bogdan is wounded in an attack in the forest, Milena and Petar try to rebuild their relationship, but this attempt brings new questions of loyalty and secret missions.
At the same time, on the political horizon of Serbia, Prince Pavle Karađorđević invites Vukašin to discuss the ultimatum sent to him by Germany, Great Britain and France — which further reinforces the feeling that the peace the country has known must be re-examined. The parallels between the characters' personal drama and the fate of the nation become clearly visible.
The new episode exposes the gap between ideals and reality — while the youth of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia are forced back into the political arena, the older generations struggle to preserve stability in the face of history's onslaught.
