"Kalimeres are a cult symbol of Bojana and fishing and an intangible good of local importance

"Calimeres were deleted from the Program of temporary facilities on Bojana only in order to insert new locations between the existing locations of the fishermen's houses", pointed out Arben Hodžić, a lawyer.

The decision on the removal of the calimera on Bojana, which came from the Directorate for Inspection Affairs, left in amazement the fishermen who gathered to remind the authorities that the calimeras, apart from being the iconic symbol of Bojana and fishing, were also declared an intangible asset of local importance by the Administration for the Protection of Cultural Property in 2017.

"Kalimeres were deleted from the Program of temporary facilities on Bojana only in order to insert new locations between the existing locations of the fishermen's houses", pointed out Arben Hodžić, a lawyer.

In the decision, which is signed by urban construction inspector Nataša Brajović, it is stated that the building, which normally dates from 1981, was erected contrary to the technical documentation and urban-technical conditions.

The fishermen and their lawyer claim that there are no parameters in the law for the installation of calimers.

"That calimera was set up by fishermen, old craftsmen, who know how to set it up and at what angles the so-called nets, i.e. karić, are tied. So it is absolutely unclear to us what she meant when she stated the urban planning technical conditions in the solution," he said. Hodzic.

The President of the Fishermen's Association believes that it is a mistake.

"Because really, if this is demolished, then there is absolutely no sense. Why would the Kalimera, which is protected, which is registered, even registered in the Institute of Marine Biology, be demolished," said Ivo Knežević, president of the Bojana Fishermen's Association.

That it is not a mistake is confirmed by the example of the Vukčević family, whose calimera they also tried to remove two years ago.

"I pushed those things so that my calimer would not be demolished. But they shortened my ropes, they came overnight and cut them. I contacted the ministry, they sent me a reply to contact Morsko Dobro. I went to Morsko Dobro, there we they say they are not competent," said Drago Vukčević.

The fishermen said that they will not just allow the Directorate for Inspection Affairs and the Maritime Administration to damage the history, cult and true value of Bojana.

Today, there are only 40 calimers on Bojana, and the fishermen, as they say, get the impression that they want to expel them, little by little.
