Bojan Zeković from the Center for Research and Study of Birds spoke for Boje jutra about a new pair of storks that visited Mareza.
"On Friday, we were informed that a pair of storks had appeared on Mareza, and after going out into the field, we confirmed that it was a new pair that was working on the nest and will most likely stay there," reports Zeković.
As he says, the nest in Berane is under video monitoring, and based on that they determined that the parents are building the nest, feeding and finding material for the nest.
"On that nest in Berane, the female has been laying on her eggs for several days, and the male brings food," says Zeković.
He notes that this is the eighth year that we have a stork nest in Berane after a long period, because there is information that earlier in the area of Zeta and Ulcinj there were about a hundred pairs of storks that nested in Montenegro.
As he says, storks are a protected species of birds that like the presence of people, but also a useful species because they feed on rodents and reptiles, and their function is important for nature.
