More than a dozen active fires were registered in the past ten days on the territory of Podgorica.
The Protection and Rescue Service of the Capital City says that they are ready for the upcoming fire season, that they expect there to be active fires during the summer, especially in August, and appeal to citizens not to light fires in open spaces when temperatures are high.
"Fires were registered in Tuzi, Golubovci, Lješanska nahija, Zagorič, Stari aerodrome. The cause of fires in 90 percent of cases is the human factor," said Goran Janković, the commander of the Protection and Rescue Service of the Capital City, as a guest on "Morning Colors" on Vijesti Television.
Janković said that the service with equipment and personnel is ready for the upcoming fire season, and new firefighting vehicles are expected in the coming period.
This unit had a series of preventive activities that it carried out in order to familiarize citizens with their obligations.
"When the temperatures are high, you should not light a fire in an open space. If citizens have to do it, it is mandatory to notify the Protection and Rescue Service," said Janković and announced that he would file criminal charges against unscrupulous persons.
