Although Cijevna was declared a natural monument in 2017 and represents an important habitat for birds and plants, its devastation does not stop, the Center for the Protection and Study of Birds said.
"This is an area we will protect and blasting is not right. It has a direct negative impact on fish, plants, birds and the entire environment. It will take time for nature to recover," said environmentalist Ksenija Medenica from the CZIP as a guest in "Colors of the Morning".
Environmentalist Medenica said that something must be done to prevent further devastation of Cijevna.
"The declaration on the protection of Cijevna was signed in the local self-government, which means that there is a will to protect Cijevna, but the situation on the ground is different," said Medenica.
Minesweeping is not the only problem, there is also the illegal construction of buildings right next to the coast, the disposal of landfills, the construction of small hydroelectric power plants in Albania, for which, due to poor communication, they still do not know what impact it will have, added Medenica.
