This year's parliamentary elections, scheduled for August 30, will be unique in many respects for 30 years since the introduction of multi-party system. For the first time, the campaign will be conducted during the summer, during the coronavirus epidemic, without classic party meetings. How will political parties manage in these conditions.
"There won't be the usual door-to-door campaigns. There will be more communication through social networks and through television, although we are slowly getting used to such a way of communication in everyday life," said Slaven Radunović from the Democratic Front.
"Through various messages that we will send to the citizens, both through the media and through social networks and wherever there is an opportunity to talk with the citizens, without endangering the health of the citizens," said Draginja Vuksanović Stanković, president of the SDP.
"Political parties must conduct campaigns only through social networks, announcements, media, nothing beyond that must be implemented," added Andrija Popović, leader of the Liberal Party.
What the August elections will have in common with all the previous ones is the rhetoric of most political parties, which can often be offensive and aggressive. TV Vijesti tried to find out from the political parties whether this time they will make an effort to protect the citizens' mental health with their messages, in addition to the physical.
"The opposition doesn't generate such a narrative, it's the government." The government emphasizes stories that are painful, so that the one who is hurt would have to react, and then this story is created that we are all the same. What can we tell them and encourage them? We can encourage them and say, come on, people, let's all go to the polls and destroy this miracle, and it will be better," says Radunović.
"It's enough to hear more about divisions on one side and the other, fights, attacks, constantly giving some negative criticism. Let's do something positive for our citizens, so that they can live decently and nicely tomorrow," Vuksanović Stanković added.
"I invite the citizens to, as much as possible, not to follow the political campaign at all, to turn to the summer and spend more time on the beaches, rivers, and for the political campaign they will have time to overcome it, even if they have been following it for the last few days" , says Popović.
In the ruling party, they were not in the mood to reveal how they will conduct the campaign, and what will be the key messages they will send to the citizens until August 30. Today, however, they used the parliamentary session to send messages to the voters of the opposition.
"I think that now they are completely confused that destructive messages are being sent to them and that they no longer have any faith and hope in the opposition, which of course gives us wings and faith in the fact that not only did we do the right thing, but that we really are the opposition's moon Even before the election, they showed where they belong, that is, where they don't belong," said Aleksandra Vuković from DPS.
A month and a half before the elections, with the fear of the virus and an uncertain economic future, TV Vijesti asks in what condition the Montenegrin voter will face election day.
"It's really time for the Montenegrins to remember," said Vuković.
"Believe that Montenegrin citizens are in good condition, and they are used to the various hardships that have befallen them so far, they will endure these 30 days as well," said Radunović.
"I expect that the average citizen will find the strength to recognize the politics of change," adds Vuksanović Stanković.
"Whoever doesn't go crazy here is not normal," concludes Popović.
