In connection with the murder of the Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, the Police Directorate did not receive direct requests from the Malta Police. This was announced today by the director of the Police Administration, Veselin Veljović, via Twitter. He did it two days after Mateju Caruana Galicija, the son of Dafna Caruana Galicija, a journalist killed in Malta almost three years ago, said in an exclusive interview for Vijesti that Milo Đukanović was the key person from Montenegro that his mother dealt with while investigating the case. Možura, as well as investigating the connections between Đukanović, Prime Minister of Malta Joseph Muscat and the ruling elite in Azerbaijan.
The son of the murdered journalist, who is an investigative journalist himself, said in an interview with TV Vijesti that he has knowledge that the Maltese police sent a request to the Montenegrin police.
"Police from Malta did send a request to Montenegro to collect evidence. The suspect for her murder, Jorgan Fenek, received payments from the company Mayor Trans Limited registered in the Seychelles, behind which a man from Azerbaijan stands as a cover. Those payments came from an account in ABLV Bank in Latvia. Mayor Trans Limited also has an account in Universal Capital Bank in Montenegro. It is possible that the payments went from Montenegro to Latvia and then to Fenek. What we need to find out is who sent those payments. Part of this evidence is in Montenegro", said Metju Caruana Galicija for TV Vijesti.
Veljović also announced that the checks carried out established that the murdered journalist and the suspect Fenek did not visit Montenegro. Caruana Galicia confirms that his mother never came to Montenegro. However, for Fenek, it indicates:
"He was part of the scheme along with former prime minister Joseph Muscat's chief of staff, Keith Schembri, and Malta's former energy minister, Konrad Mizzi, who were coming to Montenegro. Their visits are significant because they were involved in the corruption that paid Fenech a lot of money. ... The former prime minister of Malta, Joseph Muscat, as well as Mici and Šembria met with Đukanović, who may have helped them in some way.... My mother's research regarding this large criminal scheme also related to Montenegro and the Možura wind farm , and that led to her murder. All of them may have evidence related to the murder, but also to the motive of this crime."
Veljović, on the other hand, claims that the Police of Malta did not request any checks from their Montenegrin colleagues for the Montenegrin company that manages the "Možura" wind farm, the company Možura Wind Park d.o.o., nor the persons in that company. No checks were requested for the companies mentioned in to the media that they are connected with VE "Možura" as well as for possible connections with state officials of Montenegro. However, as he concluded, in the case of specific requests regarding the murder of a journalist, the Police Directorate will act in a timely manner and will give priority to those requests in its work.
