Although Igor and Vladimir Božović possessed false travel documents, their identities were confirmed shortly after their arrest, first on the basis of photographs, and later on the basis of fingerprints.
This was announced to "Vijesta" by the Police Administration, answering questions about the deprivation of liberty of two high-ranking members of the Kavaka criminal clan in Portugal.
The institution clarified that the targeted search for them was started immediately after international warrants were issued in 2017.
"Direct cooperation was achieved with several foreign services through international operational police cooperation, as well as through the network of targeted search teams of ENFAST and Europol. During the activities undertaken, a lot of information was gathered about the movements of the mentioned persons in several European countries, where Spain and Portugal stand out in particular .
Through international operational police cooperation, several checks of possible hiding locations in these two countries were carried out in the cities of Valencia and Badajoz in Spain, as well as Monte Gordo in Portugal. After several weeks of active targeted searching, in the territory of Portugal, the area where these persons were hiding was narrowed down, and further field checks led to the location of the villa in the small town of Redondo".
The UP states that it is interesting that the location of the villa is near the border of Spain and Portugal, so that, in case of need, they could quickly move from one country to another and thus change the area of police jurisdiction.
