Makrid: Weak water pressure due to excessive consumption

At the moment, it is not possible that there will be an increase in the price of water, and the low pressure these days is a consequence of excessive consumption, especially in Doljani, Zeta, Tuzi and Dajbabi. There are currently 560 employees working in the company Vodovod I Kanalizacija. This was pointed out by the director of the city's Water and Sewerage Company, Filip Makrid.

"We are witnessing a sudden rise in temperatures. In June, we had a very rainy first part, and then we had a sudden temperature rise of almost 40 degrees. What is indicative at the moment is certainly that certain peripheral parts of the city and certain water supply systems in rural areas have problems with pressure and this is a consequence of excessive consumption, such as Dajbab, Doljan, Zeta, Tuzi. In most of these settlements, we have normalized consumption. A certain number of settlements, mostly informal ones, which have expanded a little too much, and where we have a rather poor infrastructure, at the moment those areas have a problem with water supply. That problem is primarily expressed in the time interval from around 18:00/18:30 to 22:00/23:00," Makrid pointed out.

Asked what the Vodovod company is doing to finally solve this problem, Makrid states: "We are looking to create a rehabilitation plan that will relate to the strengthening of the infrastructure, although in the previous period, that is, since the beginning of the year, we have surely built 4 to 5 km of new roads in these settlements water networks and the situation would have been much different or much worse if we hadn't done that. Where the situation is most difficult is in Lješanska Nahiha, where we have a rural water supply system that we have been working on permanently all these years and where we introduced a drastic measure of 24-hour water restrictions. As for other settlements, the situation is tolerable. Mostly if we have some individual problems, we solve them on the spot in accordance with citizens' reports."

In the coming days, numerous works are expected on the territory of Podgorica.

"At the moment, we are working on a lot of streets, work is currently underway in 92 streets, we are working quickly in order to finish everything on time. I would like to mention that at this moment and in the course of this week we will have more work on asphalting, certainly 7,8 streets. Streets in Zagorič, Murtovina, then streets in Konik, and we hope that in this way we will complete a good part of the roads and in these summer times reduce the dust that is present and make life bearable for citizens in that area again."
