From May 1 to today, the entry of 2.569.372 passengers and the exit of 2.307.785 passengers were registered at the border crossings, i.e. 351.785 more passengers entered Montenegro than left, which indicates that the tourist season should be successful, he stated. He said that any increase in the number of tourists is "encouraging information for us".
Vojinović stated that the border crossings towards the Republic of Serbia in Dobrakovo, Dračenovac and Ranche currently have the highest traffic.
"Dobrakovo 780.000, Dračenovac 460.000 passengers, Ranche 280, a total of 000 passengers, border crossing to the Republic of Albania, Sukobin and Božaj with traffic of 1 passengers, Debeli Brijeg border crossing to the Republic of Croatia over 520 passengers, border crossing to Bosnia and Herzegovina: Sitnica, 000 and Vraćenovići, about 1 passengers," said Vojinović.
According to him, in order to reduce congestion at other border crossings, a Decision was made to recategorize the Krstac border crossing for border traffic on the Nikšić-Gacko road for international passenger traffic from June 15 to October 1, 2021.
The factor that mostly leads to the creation of longer queues and longer waits at road border crossings, Vojinović highlights the inadequate traffic infrastructure in the area of the border crossing as well as the small area of individual border crossings or the insufficient size of the roads leading from/to the border crossings.
Vojinović said that as far as border checks are concerned, they include standard checks of persons, things and means of transport, control of travel documents, checks in records - databases, checks of fulfillment of the conditions for crossing the state border, checks of the purpose of travel and others.
He adds that a special factor that affects the speed of border checks is "the control of measures aimed at suppressing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic".
"Faced with the mentioned problems, projects for the expansion and construction of new border crossings and initiatives for opening common border crossings with neighboring countries have been launched," said Vojinović.
