Vuković: I am proud that I did not give up when there were no results, I hope to live up to expectations

I am proud that I did not give up in the years when there were no results, when I searched for a long time, and I hope that I will justify all the expectations in the upcoming competitions.

This is what Marija Vuković, the best Montenegrin athlete for 2021 in the traditional selection of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, said as a guest in Boja Jutra.

At the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Vuković won ninth place in the high jump and thus achieved the best result in the history of Montenegrin athletics. She pointed out that she had been searching for a long time, trying to return the feeling from 2010, when she became the junior champion at the world championship in Canada at the age of eighteen.

As she states, she often changed the environments in which she would train and looked for a coach, because after a few months she would realize that she was not making progress. Despite the big difference between "mental and physical preparation", she found herself in Greece.

Although she is satisfied with her success at the Olympic Games, she says that she is especially proud of her result from the qualification when she jumped a height of 195 centimeters, which is a requirement for jumping in the final.

Vuković said that all the long-term work "paid off" with the result that was achieved this summer, and that since October she has been preparing for the upcoming indoor world championship that will be held in Belgrade.
