Residents of Višnjeva and Krimovice in Donji Grblje blocked the local road for 15 minutes, protesting against the extension of the concession for the Platac quarry, of the Carinvest company, by the President of the Municipality of Budva, Marko Carević.
"Because the quarry, the asphalt base and the landfill cause damage to our lives and the lives of our children. We ask Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić to listen to our pleas and not allow further devastation of this area. At the same time, we criticize the actions of Minister Mladen Bojanić, who in this way supports what the previous government did," said Vojin Bojković, a resident of Donje Grblj.
MANS accused the Ministry of Capital Investments of arranging for Tsarević's private company to obtain a thirty-year concession for stone exploitation contrary to the law, which Bojanić's department rejects and claims that the procedure is legal and without stretching anyone. Locals say they don't want a quarry, no matter whose it is, and demand that the Government withdraw all documents and enable the development of ethnic villages and farms 10 kilometers from Budva.
"Now it's 100 square meters plus 360 square meters, which means half a million square meters should turn into dust and ashes 52 meters from private properties, that's a situation that is unacceptable. This injustice that has been going on for 15 years can be changed with one act. Injustice can drive a person to the wall," said Zoran Pima, a resident of Donje Grblje.
Today's incident in which the driver of the excavator from the Carinvest company and one of the locals who attended the protest took part shows that the atmosphere in Donji Grblje was heated because of Carevic's quarry.
Although it was planned, the Government did not decide on the Proposal of the Concession Act of the Ministry of Capital Investments at the last session. Carinvest has been managing the quarry for the past 15 years, and they have a permit for stone exploitation until December 31, which is why they asked for an extension of the contract.
