Citizens are worried because, as they said, the DUP foresees the construction of a residential building. The local self-government assures that, while the Capital is registered on that land, they will not build a residential building

Last weekend, residents of Đoka Miraševića Street, in the Block VI neighborhood of Podgorica, protested the planned construction of a road right next to their building, which would lead to the newly built kindergarten.

One of the citizens who pointed out this problem, Nebojša Žugić, told Boje jutra that they currently see three problems in the existing solution.

"If the construction of the access road were to be started, the first and basic problem is that the safety of the users of this area is threatened, and I am thinking first of all of our children. The second problem is simply the construction, i.e. the DUP provides for the construction of a residential building and when those two things taking into account, we can state that the traffic in Đoka Miraševića Street would be permanently and irreversibly disturbed, which is already or threatens to be in a chaotic state. And the third thing, not the least important, is that the construction of the road would completely remove the rows of trees that are several decades old which would endanger the environment, and what we would get would be harmful gases, noise and so on," said Žugić.

He said that the first initiative, that is, the letter, was sent to the ministry some ten days ago. "We turned to them with a request to stop the current construction of the road, which seems to be stopped until an alternative solution is found, and for that second part we turned to the capital city," said Žugić.

Miljan Barović from the Secretariat for Spatial Planning and Sustainable Development of the Capital City said that the land is owned by the Capital City, but under the burden of restitution according to the real estate lists valid for that area.

"What we promised the citizens at the meeting, and which is our firm promise to them, is that, while the Capital City is registered on that land, no residential facility will be built there. "We also agreed to initiate the necessary procedure in terms of reviewing those planning solutions according to the competent Ministry of Ecology, Process Planning and Urbanism," he said.

Barović said that they are aware of the problems faced by the citizens of that area. "They address the Capital City on this issue almost every day, so we are ready to communicate with the competent ministry in this regard," he said.

He also said that somewhere and as a local self-government, they have repeatedly expressed the view that the preparation of planning documentation should be returned to the local self-government precisely for these reasons, so that they could promptly react in such situations.

"Unfortunately, the legal solutions are such that they do not allow us to do that at the moment, but we will definitely be there to serve the citizens and we will support them in a professional sense as well," Barović concluded.
