We are entering the story "The Russians are our brothers" or "The Russians are the greatest villains" and we should decide on that. That's how we defined ourselves before, so we did badly because of that, Stefan Đukić, activist and columnist, said in Boje muća.
He states that the sanctions against Russia are not a joke and that they were discussed a lot in the EU.
"On the exclusion of Russian banks from SVIFT, so two were left so that Russian gas could be paid for and other transactions could be made. We have an example of Turkey that did not close flights so that the commercial type of traffic could function," said Đukić.
He points out that the question must be asked what if we pass a new set of sanctions, what does it mean, what will be the reciprocal measures, what will be the impact on the economy...
"Before, we had a whole set of sanctions because of the previous crisis in Ukraine, so when Russia banned imports to Plantages, it was like how it happened now. Maybe we should have learned a lesson, but we didn't. We don't approach the situation analytically and strategically. I'm not saying that we don't sanctions should be introduced, I'm not even saying that we should. The EU, which we should follow, has prepared guidelines for its members, what benefit can we have as a candidate for membership".
He added that unlike Croatia and Turkey, Russia did not renew flights to Montenegro last year, which was a blow to tourism.
"Many said that it was due to the quite aggressive actions of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Đorđe Radulović, and those sets of sanctions. We need to think about the economy and make decisions, and most importantly, we need to inform the citizens. The Government Commission has made decisions, the Government seems not to vote... As a society, we are trotting in place because of the way in which important decisions are communicated," said Đukić.
