There is every chance that Montenegrin police officers will again be left without official vehicles due to the expiration of the financial leasing, but no one is taking the blame for that, because both the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) and the Cadastre Administration claim that they did their part of the job properly and on time.
However, it is certain that some alternative solution will have to be sought, so that during the season the policemen would not patrol on foot again, as they did on the eve of last summer.
Just like last year, on the eve of the season, Montenegrin police officers are also threatened with patrolling on foot this year.
The reason is the same – the expiration of the financial lease and the late tender for new official cars.
The Ministry of Interior claims that they are not to blame for this, because they did their part of the work on time and formed a working group back in October.
On the other hand, the Administration for Cadastre and State Property, which procures vehicles, says that they received the technical documentation from the MUP on December 17 last year, but that they had to change it.
About ten days after that, they asked the Ministry of Finance and Social Welfare for information on when money would be provided for the purchase of vehicles, to which Milojko Spajić's department replied that three million euros had been allocated for this in this year's budget.
Only after that and the adoption of the centralized public procurement plan, all the conditions were created for starting the public procurement procedure.
The deadline for opening bids was originally April 5, but due to changes in the tender documentation, it was moved to April 20. From the date of conclusion of the contract, the best bidder has a maximum of 200 days to deliver the vehicle.
The Ministry of Interior hopes that they will be able to find a solution before the deadline expires.
And there is not much time left, because if a solution is not found quickly, the police officers will again be without patrol cars for several months, and that in the middle of the tourist season.
