Krivokapić's government has terminated ten contracts on the construction of MHP: How much will the state have to pay?

Three days ago, the Government of Zdravko Krivokapić, who was dismissed, terminated ten contracts on the construction of small hydropower plants (MHP) during its mandate.

The Ministry of Capital Investments told Television News that it is not yet known how much the state will have to pay due to unilaterally terminated contracts.

In the meantime, there are dozens more HPPs waiting to be built, so environmentalists are not satisfied with what Krivokapić's government has fulfilled as promised.

During the year and a half mandate, the former Government terminated ten contracts on concessions for the construction of MHP, due to non-compliance with the obligations of the concessionaires, the Ministry of Capital Investments told Television News.

The concessionaires submitted a total of nine lawsuits to the Commercial Court for compensation.

In April last year, the government adopted the text of the agreement to terminate the contract on the construction of the small power plant "Bare Kraljske" on the part of the Vranještica watercourse in Kolašin with the company "PM Hydro" of Podgorica businessman Marinko Radulović, after several months of local protests.

By signing the mutual termination of the contract, the concessionaire's lawsuit was avoided.

All in all, when the line is drawn, environmentalists say that they are not satisfied with what the Government has done in this area and claim that more could and should have been done.

The realization of 25 active concession contracts and two energy permits for reconstruction is underway.

Construction of the remaining HPPs is planned on, among others, the following watercourses: Bjelojevićka, Kaludarska, Štitarica and Lještanica.
