The association of teachers of the social group of subjects will submit an initiative based on which Article 62 of the Law on Education would be amended, which states that the educational process is carried out through four classification periods, trimesters, said Stanka Vukčević from this Association.
She states that the Association believes that it is better to switch to a semester because of the interest of the students, because each classification period lasts about two months on average.
"All of September is spent in preparation, getting to know the professors, excursions, all of September is spent in some non-teaching content. During October, it is not possible to present all the lesson plans and check the students' knowledge, that is a fact. This is the situation with other classification periods as well. In the past, the educational process was carried out over two semesters," said Vukčević.
He states that in this way, the students are given a chance, and after all the teaching content, the teachers perform a knowledge check, evaluate and based on all the grades the student gets, a final grade is given at the end of the semester.
Radoje Novović from the Institute for Education said that the Institute understands these attitudes and that there are justified reasons for them, but that everything needs to be analyzed in detail.
"It is part of the education policy of the Ministry of Education. We will give our opinion. Classification periods were introduced by the school reform in 2004, according to the Slovenian model. And when we go back to the deeper past, there were also classification periods. When it comes to the first trimester, it is difficult is sometimes to assess what a student can, knows and knows," Novović said.
He points out that, when you look at the ratings, it is said that the condition is good, but that the ratings do not reflect the real condition.
"When we look at the admissions at the Faculty of Medicine, out of 104 Lučonoše, 94 do not pass. Education and school are not an isolated island, as much as education is valued in society, so do students treat it," Novović said.
