The latest case of the rape of a minor by a seventy-four-year-old man in Bar once again shocked the Montenegrin public, but there were not many public reactions.
According to the police, this year alone, as many as six minors were victims of this type of crime.
The police recorded eight more cases of rape of adults.
The Center for Women's Rights says that there are many unreported cases, and the fact that the sentences imposed for these crimes are generally at the legal minimum has a demotivating effect on all victims.
The Higher Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica told Teelvizija Vijesti that they appealed four times this year and the previous year against court verdicts for these crimes, that is, they asked for a higher sentence.
Two were rejected as unfounded, one was accepted and the sentence was increased, while the court has not yet made a decision on one appeal.
