The Ministry of Education analyzed the violence situations that were recorded and selected almost 80 schools, which we classified into four groups in relation to which forms of violence occur most often. Analyzing the catalog of accredited programs, we selected four that we will implement after the Institute for Education completes the consultation.
This was announced by Tamara Milić from the Ministry of Education in Colors of the Morning.
It is expected, she said, that these activities will start in the next 15 days.
"We have a tone that has somehow permeated the media lately, which is the targeting of children and students as the main culprits. It would be good for us to understand that what is happening is a reaction to something that children have been suffering for a long time, accumulating, a reaction to some circumstances ", stated Milić.
He says that the matter should be viewed in a slightly broader context, which is the overall environment in which children grow and develop.
Milić also said that according to the information available to the Ministry, school teams were formed in all municipalities.
"We have introduced another module by which we monitor the situation of any form of violence that occurs in schools, because any form of violence will probably result in a part of peer violence. For this semester, we had regional meetings with all principals of elementary schools. The key topic was is the prevention of violence and action when violence occurs," said Milić.
Lepa Žunjić from the Parents Association believes that it is important to gain awareness that children are not to blame.
"Every incident of violence is in a way a mirror of the family, and then of the system and society. What kind of messages do we send to children, what kind of example are we for them," said Žunjić.
He points out that the biggest obstacle is that we as a society are very tolerant of violence.
"We try to cover up violence very often as adults, let's make an agreement, let's move on. The message we need to send to children, first from the family, then from the school, is that we will not tolerate violence, that the victims will be protected, and that we will work with the perpetrators to help them not do it again," explained Žunjić.
He adds that the family and parents, as well as the entire system, must be held accountable.
"We have recommendations, regulations, we all know the steps, but we don't follow them. In cases where violence is reported to the police, centers for social work are involved. There are also cases where the administration agrees with parents to keep it inside the school, and then it escalates. parents call us when it happens again," explained Žunjić.
When it comes to the introduction of security guards, Milić states that it is not good for the problem of violence to be the responsibility of only one person.
"We all have to have a culture of responsibility, the phenomenon of everything that concerns children inside schools. The security guard may be the first exposed person, but the hygienists will also be able to notice that something is happening in the toilets. We need to monitor and listen for indicators that can indicate that something is happening to the child," concluded Milić.
