For more than three and a half years, the Mašnić family has been fighting to prove that their closest relatives, father and son, Đorđije and Vuk Mašnić, died in a traffic accident on the Nikšić-Plužine road on July 6, 2018, due to the negligence of the authorities.
They were given hope by the decision of the new Prosecutor's Council from July 21, which unanimously accepted the complaint that the competent prosecutor Sofija Lukovac acted unprofessionally during the investigation.
They decided to submit the case files to the Special Prosecutor's Office in order to assess whether there is criminal responsibility of the prosecutor. However, they wonder why disciplinary proceedings have not been initiated in the meantime.
The Basic Prosecutor's Office in Nikšić informed Television Vijesti that they cannot initiate disciplinary proceedings against Lukovac because her actions cannot be brought under any of the 26 disciplinary offenses prescribed by law.
Thus, the prosecution's hands are tied once again, while the family representative, Neđeljko Vuk, expects that the Minister of Justice, Marko Kovač, will be the one to initiate disciplinary proceedings.
