The Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed to Vijesti Television that, after the State Election Commission provides them with a document from Belgrade, they will initiate administrative proceedings to revoke Montenegrin citizenship, in which the leader of the Europe Now Movement, Milojko Spajić, will be asked for a statement.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs notes that until now the Serbian state authorities have not been cooperative in providing data on residence and citizenship, and that the situation with Spajić is a precedent, but also that he may not be the only presidential candidate whose data will be checked.
"When we talk about Serbia, I want to emphasize that we have repeatedly written to the official bodies of Serbia, through official channels, for a list of several persons to submit data. It was a specific question about their place of residence, therefore, we are not for citizenship, but also for place of residence. We never received an answer to those questions," said Acting Director General of the Directorate for Administrative Affairs, Citizenship and Foreigners Radovan Popović.
When asked by the editor of the "Načisto" show, Petar Komnenić, if this was the first time they received an answer, Popović answered "first time and first situation".
When asked whether it is a fact for the MUP that presidential candidate Andrija Mandić declared in 2011 that he had Serbian citizenship and whether, now that they are already checking Spajić, they will also check his status, Popović states:
"We will consider whether there are enough elements, that is, facts that would indicate to us that we can initiate administrative proceedings".
