Almost daily arrests by order of the Special Prosecutor's Office instill hope in citizens that justice will finally knock on the door of those who until yesterday were untouchable. But it is a long way from arrest to legally binding verdicts, and the judges of the Special Division of the High Court in Podgorica should give the main say.
In an interview with TV Vijesti, the president of that court, Boris Savić, reveals that the number of pending cases in the Special Department has reached a historical record, and warns that, due to the lack of staff, newly elected judges directly entered the Special Department from the basic courts.
He marks the trials of Vesna Medenica, Blaž Jovanić and other former high-ranking officials as a priority, many of whom ended up behind bars thanks to transcripts from Sky applications. Whether it will be legally valid evidence will be known with the first final judgments, Savić points out in an interview with TV Vijesti.
