Last year, the number of signed plea agreements increased by almost 40 percent compared to 2021.
Although the application of that institute has been problematic for years, the European Union, part of the non-governmental sector and lawyers, these agreements are gaining momentum, mainly at the initiative of the lawyers of the accused.
The main objection is that in this way light sentences are imposed, which in many cases are below the legal minimum.
