The parents of the students of the "Oktoih" Elementary School expressed dissatisfaction with the decision of the Ministry of Education that, due to overbooking, their children will attend classes in the Resource Center Podgorica instead of their home school from September.
The decision, as stated, reached the parents four days before the end of the school year, because there are currently 800 of the expected 1.900 students at the school.
The parents of the future champions maintain that their children still need to attend classes at the "Oktoih" school, and not in some other environment.
One of the parents, Saša Palibrk, told Television Vijesti that the problem of the overbooking of the school was known from before, and not, as he says, from two weeks ago when they tried to react.
"Emergencies went on for years and for years there was talk about an additional pavilion for students, but nothing came of it. In October 2021, the school administration sent a letter to the Ministry informing them that the ultimate limits of humanity had been reached," Palibrk added.
According to him, two weeks before the end of the school year, the parents found out about the plan to move the students to the "basement of the residential building" under Ljubović Hill.
Palibrk addressed the representatives of the Government and asked them whether such a decision was preceded by a procedure or a public tender for the owners of business premises in the Zabjelo settlement, ironically adding "which would determine which was the best basement for our children".
"When we rejected the proposal that children go to school in the evening, this Solomonic solution arrived," he said. He added that "the resource center was built for the needs of children who need it more".
They requested that a pavilion for children be built according to urgent procedures and that parents be given a decisive answer when these pavilions could be finished.
Until then, he said, they will be patient.
