Stocks of blood are much smaller during July and August, and this year it also caused the postponement of regular operations in order to save blood for emergency situations.
"Stocks must be much larger. We expect the peak season in the coming days. Tourist season, big crowds, traffic problems. In addition to urgent conditions, we must not forget the chronically ill, especially in these weather conditions that are not favorable for them and lead to the worsening of the underlying disease, we consider such patients as urgent. Blood reserves must be provided for these patients. In moments when supplies are low, we postpone regular operating programs. These delays are for a maximum of 24 hours, we already started with the postponement of certain patients last week," she said in a guest appearance in Boje jurat TV Vijesti Director of the Institute for Blood Transfusion, Dr. Tamara Šćepanović.
She appealed to voluntary donors and citizens in good health to donate blood before going on vacation in order to overcome the situation.
Blood can be donated in Podgorica every working day from 15:XNUMX a.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m., in Nikšić on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, in Kotor and Bar on Tuesdays and Thursdays, in Bijelo Polje and Berane on Mondays and Thursdays, in Pljevlja on Tuesdays and Fridays and in Cetinje on Wednesdays.
