The tax debt at the end of June exceeded 540 million euros, and it is accumulating mostly due to default interest, according to the Revenue and Customs Administration (UPC).
And while they have yet to determine how much of this amount is chargeable, economic analysts believe that it will be good if 200 million is taken.
Analyst Mila Kasalica believes that debt collection through real estate could be a good model.
In the previous half year, tax and customs revenues amounted to one billion and 22 million euros, which is 246 million more than the same period last year and represents a record, according to the authorities.
However, despite the fact that tax revenues are growing, the tax debt is also growing.
"The total estimated tax debt as of June 30, 06 is 2023 euros, including interest. It is important to say that the problem with this accumulated tax debt is precisely the default interest that is calculated daily on all these unpaid claims," said Radoje Mijušković from UPC.
It is still not known how much of this debt, in which the same companies are always leading, can be collected.
This will be analyzed by the Working Group formed by the UPC based on the recommendations of experts from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Economic analyst Mila Kasalica assesses that the tax debt is mostly related to the indiscipline of state-owned companies, which even today do not fulfill their obligations.
He believes that we can be satisfied if at least 200 million is charged.
Kasalica says that it is necessary for the UPC to receive the support of all related departments.
She also says that the information system should be improved, that is, the monitoring of tax payers' applications.
In the meantime, the customs debt at the end of June amounted to almost 14,4 million euros, and Mijušković says that it is fully recoverable.
After last year's seizure of cigarettes in the Free Zone of the Port of Bar and the decision to prohibit the storage of tobacco products in that area, customs supervision has been strengthened, and the electronic record keeping of all incoming and outgoing goods is helping them significantly.
The UPC notes that the current management, after the adoption of the new Customs Law, initiated the amendment of the Law on Free Zones, in order to permanently prevent what we witnessed in the previous period.
