The Agency for the Protection of Competition has begun to examine the operations of large retail chains in Montenegro, which Finance Minister Aleksandar Damjanović again accused this week of causing inappropriate food price increases with high margins and thereby profiting.

Economic analyst Predrag Zečević believes that, if it works conscientiously, the Agency will achieve results that, according to him, will also provide work for the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT).

He points out that in the meantime, it is necessary for the state to apply all available mechanisms in order to reduce the consequences of the rise in food prices.
